We have recently received updated guidance on the design of helmets for cricket. All U18s are directed to use helmets as before, and the recommendation is that helmets should conform to the new safety standard BS7928:2013. You do not have to buy a new helmet straightaway, but the recommendation is that the new style helmets should be worn. Our U11 and U13s will be using the junior sized ball and therefore, helmets should be ones tested against this cricket ball. You can see the wide range of approved helmets via the ECB link below. www.ecb.co.uk/helmets. For wicket-keeping face protectors the relevant British Safety Standard is BS7929-2:2009.
